First, I want to share with you something that I recently observed in a recent product launch that opened my eyes to this problem of lead generation which is what prompted me to write this post.

They Had A Desire But They Didn’t Have A Clue

It was an interesting situation that I saw occur and it made me realize that STILL… there are a lot of people around who DO NOT KNOW HOW to generate leads and BUILD A LIST for their business.

Here’s the story and what I discovered…

I recently purchased a product online called the MLM Launch Formula by Jonathan Budd & Mark Hoverson. You may remember the launch of this product, just the free “pre-launch” videos alone where enough to begin transforming peoples businesses.

Anyway, so I bought this product and secured my spot in the “members only” community site they had dedicated to those people who bought the product, and one of the very first threads I saw in this members area was a thread discussing “lead generation” &” list building” strategies and the problems people were having with that.

In fact there were actually 2 threads by different people, with different headlines, and both of these threads were attracting more attention than any of the other threads in the community. More people were posting questions about lead generation in these threads than were in any of the other threads where people were asking other questions.

It became very clear to me that it was an issue a lot of people had. They had a desire but they DIDN’T have a CLUE.

So here I was coming into the course to learn about product launches and a lot of these people weren’t even at the point of knowing how to build their list. I then began to realize that there must be a lot more people out there who are struggling as well… and it is for that reason that I decided to write this post.

What Lead Generation & List Building Mean To Your Business

Before I get into what I am doing to generate leads and how SIMPLE it is to begin to build your list I thought I would cover exactly what having a steady flow of new leads coming in to your marketing funnel will do for your business.

Leads Are The Life Blood Of Your Business

If you are not generating any leads at all yet, just imagine for a moment what a steady flow of say 3 to 5 leads per day would do for your business right now.

Now think about 10+ leads per day… or even 50+ leads and more. Can you get the picture here? What shape would your business be in with that type of lead flow?

You see lead flow brings life into your business just like blood carries oxygen and other nutrients around your body. When you have new people coming in and getting exposed to your products and services, and you are developing a relationship with that list, and people are joining you in your opportunities or buying your products, you have a healthy, thriving business.

Subscribe To A Replicated Paid Service

As part of my marketing I am using a system called My Lead System Pro (MLSP) which is a replicating web page creator.

I send people there from Twitter and they subscribe to that page. When someone decides to buy the service for themselves I get a commission and if they decide to purchase any other product in there then I also get a commission on that as well.

Build Your Own Capture Pages & Marketing Funnel

If there is one skill that you WILL have to learn and master at some stage if you are serious about building an online business then you are going to need to know how to create your own capture pages and back end training funnel.

Are You Getting 3,000+ Clicks Per Week From Twitter?

I have put this post together to show you exactly what I am doing to get 3,000+ clicks per week from marketing on Twitter.

Please note – this information is NOT fabricated in anyway. I have not done some greasy Photoshop work, these are the actual results that I get from my tracking using www.Bit.ly. If I gave you access to my account you would see it.

Also… these clicks and the resulting leads I generate from this activity are totally 100% FREE.

The following chart has been taken directly from my bit.ly account. The results you see are for links that I only use on Twitter… I don’t use these links anywhere else.

As you can see there are well over 3,000 clicks during the week of January 13, 2010 to January 19, 2010. This averages out to around 450 clicks per day. That’s not bad for free traffic.

I am currently sending these leads to 1 of 4 destinations…

And that’s it. So I am actually building lists from these clicks, getting comments on my blog and getting my posts retweeted back onto Twitter from them. And that’s not to mention the community interaction and relationship building I do from using Twitter.

Currently I get anywhere between 5 to 8 leads per day from using Twitter in this method.

Twitter can be a very powerful tool if used in the correct manner and knowing how to use it correctly is the key to doing this.

Of course this is just one of my lead generation methods that I am involved in right now. Each different method I use yields a different number of clicks and lead quality… but I am sure that you can see that Twitter really should become a major part of your marketing arsenal.

How Do I Do It?

I would like to stress at this point that as much as Twitter is an awesome lead generation tool, it is also very much a community and should be treated with that level of respect.

My goal when I use Twitter is to engage the community with quality information whether it be information on my blog, links to my main opportunity or to my training site, I aim to provide quality information rather than just try and get leads.

TweetAdder combined with Twitter has become the fastest method I have ever engaged in to create traffic.

With TweetAdder I can automatically follow thousands of new people over multiple Twitter accounts as well as post as many Tweets as I like to my followers. Of course, I don’t recommend you post too many in one day otherwise people will unfollow you.

But TweetAdder is THE key to Twitter automation for serious marketers.

SocialOomph

Another great tool that you will definitely want in your Twitter marketing arsenal is SocialOomph. When you follow someone on Twitter and you receive an automatic welcome message from them you are seeing SocialOomph in action.

You can easily setup a different message for each different Twitter account that you may have or you can keep them the same for all accounts. Which is exactly what I do.

Engaging The Twitter Community

You may have already noticed that using the Twitter website to interact with the community is a proverbial pain in the butt. It’s not designed for ease of use.

The best tool I have come across to engage with my Twitter following is Tweetdeck Desktop. If you haven’t yet used this services then you are not getting the best out of Twitter. It’s an absolute must as it will enable you to interact with the thousands of people who follow you in an organised and intelligent fashion from a single piece of software on your desktop.

Tracking Your Traffic & Clicks

If you are thinking of marketing like a professional on Twitter then you are going to have to track your traffic and clicks. Tracking clicks has given me the ability to see what types of Tweets work best and has taught me exactly what it is my followers are looking for.

If I send out a tweet and get very few clicks on it I know that either the topic or the way I wrote the tweet is not what people are looking for. This has been unbelievably valuable in helping me write headings for articles, videos, forum posts and emails that get the click.

One of the biggest problems that new people face when it comes to using Twitter as an interactive tool is that they have trouble interacting with their followers.

The Twitter website itself is very poor for doing this and was not really designed for that purpose. But what really complicates it is when you are running multiple accounts with many thousands of followers. How on earth do you even begin to build meaningful relationships on Twitter like that?

The answer to that is very easy. I use a free tool called Seesmic Desktop. Watch this video to find out all about it…

Update 11 July 2010…

I no longer use Seesmic because it slowed down incredibly when I started to get a very large Twitter following. So I now run Tweetdeck which seems to handle the load of large numbers much better.

The reason I went with Seesmic back at the start of 2009 was because back then Tweetdeck couldn’t handle multiple Twitter accounts. Well didn’t they do a good job with changing that, becuase not only does Tweetdeck now accomodate multiple Twitter accounts it also handles many other social media platforms including Facebook.

Tweetdeck does exactly what you see in the video but heaps more and 10 times better, so go with Tweetdeck.
