From experience with building lists and working with people in the home business industry I can guarantee you that there is a big difference between having a list and having a tribe of followers who like you and want to deal with you.

You have to remember that some of the biggest income earners in the home business industry online are developing tribes of people that they regularly interact with and add value to. If you aren’t pursuing this in your online business career then you are definitely leaving some serious money behind.

Anyone can acquire lists of people. Heck you can even buy them and send regular SPAM emails to them, but that does not mean you have a tribe of followers. And remember, when it comes to home business success… you definitely want followers.

You may have heard of Seth Godin’s book called “Tribes” where he outlines the differences between people who build tribes and those who don’t. In short… tribe building is a major part of your online success and I have some tips here to help you develop a tribe from your list.

Personal Attributes To Help You

This is a brief list of attributes that you need to consider to help you build your tribe.

1. Transparency – Be real with your people and be available. Most people get turned off when they suspect that you are hiding something from them or that you have an ulterior motive in your business or marketing. When you produce content, especially video content where people can see you, make sure you are genuine in what you say and offer.

2. Value – Everybody loves someone who can help them solve problems or that can add value to their life. If you can be that type of person that positions themselves where you can help those in your list you are well on your way. The premise for this of course is that you have knowledge in the first place that can actually help people. If you don’t have knowledge to help those in your list, go get it.

3. Authentic – Be a person who is worthy of belief. I notice some people online, especially in video marketing, that carry on very unprofessionally. If you are setting out to build a large six figure monthly income then consider your posture when it comes to being authentic. Do you come across as someone who you consider to be believable? If not then change the way you deliver your message.

4. Professional – In this game of entrepreneurial mastery nobody likes to deal with someone who is unprofessional in their dealings. Be a business person not a get rich quick opportunity seeker.

5. Presentable – Do you have problem with your appearance? And I am not asking you if you are ugly and have a great face for radio… do you present yourself as someone who is neat & tidy? Especially in your video presentations, consider what you are wearing and also the backgrounds that are behind you. Also consider the tone’s in your voice when you are speaking and ensure that you sound pleasant and easy to deal with.

6. Relevancy – You need to ensure that what you are presenting to your list is relevant to what they need and want. As an example, there was a marketer I know who used to deliver valuable content through video but now all I hear from this person is “save the planet” type stuff. And I am not interested in that type of stuff when I am looking for information on how to market. The content must be relevant to your tribe.

These are just a few to get you thinking but you have the general idea here. You are involved in business, and earning six figure per month is big business. So in all that you do, be the person that other people would want to deal with and you should be fine.

Methods Of Delivery

Now that we have covered the personal attributes let’s have a look at how you put these things into place. There are various levels of interaction that you can use to help build your tribe. You probably won’t be using all of these initially, especially for new people, but this will give you an idea of what you need to aim at implementing.

Level 1. Educational Interaction – This is the level that I am operating at now with you. Providing valuable information that is relevant to what people want.

Level 2. Transactional Interaction – This is where people from your tribe are either buying product from you or joining you in your primary business.

Level 3. Communal Interaction – This is where people from your tribe comment on your blog posts, video’s and articles and/or interact with through social media methods.

Level 4. Virtual Live Interaction – Virtual meaning “online”. This is achieved through live webinars or teleseminars. This method is proving to be a great income producing source for many professional marketers who know what they are doing with their tribe.

Level 5. Community Interaction – This occurs when you provide a place for your tribe to not only interact with you but also to interact with each other. This can be achieved using 3rd party social networking platforms like hosting your own forum or running your own online community using software like Ning, Drupal, SocialGo and others. This is also a great way of increasing status in your tribe as well.

Level 6. One-on-One Interaction – This level is for things like private coaching a running small group training events.

Level 7. Live Group Interaction – This is hosting your own seminars offline at places like function centers etc. This is a great way to brand you as the ‘guru’, plus you can also video record your event and share it with your tribe which is also another great way of interacting and building your status in your tribe.

.

As you can see each level is like another rung in your ladder of interaction with your tribe. If you are only new to online marketing and are wondering what your business should like in the future, this is a great illustration to see what type of activity you will be involved in with your tribe. In fact you could quite easily use this as a business building guide to know what level you need to be working towards next.
